Copyright & DMCA Policy
Effective August 6, 2026
1. Our commitment
Popcorn respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects everyone who uses the Service to do the same. This policy explains how rights holders can report content they believe infringes their copyright, how we handle those reports, and what happens to accounts that repeatedly infringe. It is intended to operate within the framework of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512).
2. How to report infringement
If you believe a film or other content on Popcorn infringes a copyright you own or control, send a written notice to our designated agent (below) that includes: (a) your physical or electronic signature (or that of a person authorized to act for you); (b) identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed; (c) identification of the material you claim is infringing and information reasonably sufficient for us to locate it (the film title and the page or link where it appears); (d) your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address; (e) a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and (f) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
Designated agent (registered in the U.S. Copyright Office’s DMCA Designated Agent Directory, service provider Popcorn Entertainment LLC, registration no. DMCA-1077606): Lorenzo Ruma, Popcorn Entertainment LLC, 49963 Yale Dr, Macomb, MI 48044, United States. Phone: (586) 922-8887. Email: popcornapp123@gmail.com.
Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
3. What we do with valid notices
When we receive a substantially complete notice, we act promptly: we remove or disable access to the identified material (a takedown ends streaming availability immediately for all viewers), notify the creator who uploaded it, provide them a copy of the notice, and record a copyright strike against their account under the repeat-infringer policy below.
4. Counter-notice
If your film was removed and you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, you may email popcornapp123@gmail.com a written counter-notice containing: your physical or electronic signature; identification of the removed material and where it appeared before removal; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification; your name, address, and telephone number; and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if you are outside the United States, any judicial district in which Popcorn may be found) and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice.
If we receive a valid counter-notice, we will forward it to the original claimant. Unless the claimant notifies us within 10–14 business days that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain the alleged infringement, we may restore the material.
5. Repeat infringers
Popcorn terminates, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright. A creator who accumulates three copyright strikes loses upload privileges and their creator account is terminated, and their films are removed from streaming. We may also terminate an account immediately for clear, willful infringement — for example, uploading a commercial film the creator plainly does not own. Strikes resolved in the creator’s favor (by counter-notice or the claimant’s withdrawal) do not count toward termination.
6. Creator responsibility
Every upload requires the creator to affirm, at the time of upload, that they own or control the streaming rights to the film — including all music, footage, and other embedded works — and authorize Popcorn to stream it. That attestation is logged with the upload. Popcorn’s pre-publication review is a content-quality step and does not verify rights ownership; responsibility for rights clearance rests with the uploading creator, as set out in the Terms of Service.
